It was close to being a total surprise when Mike George was honored with the prestigious "Yacht of the Year" by California Yacht Club during the Installation Dinner on January 9th. A half hull of "All In" made by Ken Gardiner will be displayed in the bar for all eternity next to other honorees such as Roy Disney, Jeff Janov, John Kilroy and Craig Leeds. Denise and the many members of fleet 3 did their best to keep it a secret from Mike all the way up till the end, but with only 10 minutes until Tom Leweck would make the announcement Mike ran smack into his parents, brother and his faithful crew Ken Dair and Mike Pentecost hiding on the other side of the bar.

 The award is presented to a California Yacht Club member by the California Yacht Club in recognition of a yacht which achieves outstanding results in regional, national, international and/or Olympic yachting competition for the year. The committee noted that Mike and his crew on All In made it a fairly easy decision by winning the local High Point Series, the North Americans (held @ CYC), and the Canadian Nationals in Vancouver, all in 2009.
