Fleet 3 has adopted 3 variances from the IMCA Class Rules of Nov. 16, 2009. Two additional variances are being evaluated but have not yet been adopted. The 3 variances adopted are:

Section 2.4 - add: Each boat shall be measured and weighed every 3 years.

Section 3.7.7 - add: If an outboard weighing more than 30 lbs. is carried, the excess weight may be taken as a credit towards bringing the boat up to minimum weight.

Section 4 - add: Sustained hiking is not permitted. Hiking is to be no more than perpendicular to the horizon.

The 2 variances being evaluated are for Section 3.4, regarding bulkhead reinforcement and bunkboards, and Section 7, regarding helmperson eligibility. Stay tuned for further developments on these 2 rules.
